About This Tour Package
Plenty of Pune families and friend groups treat Goa as their default long weekend, and a Goa tour package from Pune by road is the most flexible way to do it. You are not tied to flight timings, you can carry as much luggage as you want, and the cab stays with you for beach hopping, church visits and late dinners. The price you pay in time is the drive, so a four-day plan works much better than a rushed three-day one.
Cab Service Pune designs this trip around a comfortable AC cab and a driver who is used to long highway runs and the ghat sections on the way.
The Road from Pune to Goa
The distance is roughly 450 to 500 km each way, depending on your final destination within Goa. Most travellers take the highway south through Satara and Kolhapur, then cross into Goa via the Amboli or Chandgad side or another route your driver advises on the day. Count on about nine to eleven hours with meal and tea halts.
Leaving at 5:00 or 6:00 am is a good habit. You avoid city traffic around Pune, get through the long highway stretch in daylight and reach Goa by evening. The driver may suggest a different route depending on roadwork and weather, and we follow his judgement.
Day 1: Pune to Goa
Spend the day on the road with a proper lunch break around Kolhapur, which is known for its spicy local food. Families with children should plan small breaks every two hours or so. By late afternoon you cross into Goa and head to your hotel, where you can freshen up and walk to a nearby beach or market in the evening.
Hotel stay can be coordinated on request, so tell us which side of Goa you prefer when you book.
Day 2: North Goa Beaches and Forts
North Goa is the livelier side. Start at Fort Aguada and its lighthouse area, then continue to Candolim, Calangute and Baga, the busiest stretch for beach shacks and water sports. If you prefer quieter sand, ask your driver to take you to Anjuna or Vagator, and visit Chapora Fort for the sunset view that many Hindi films have made famous.
- Fort Aguada and the Candolim shoreline
- Calangute and Baga for shacks and water sports
- Anjuna and Vagator for a more relaxed mood
- Chapora Fort for the view over the coast
Water sports are run by independent operators on the beach, so compare what is offered and ask about safety gear before paying. Never swim where the flags or lifeguards warn against it.
Day 3: Old Goa, Panjim and South Goa
Take the second day for heritage and a calmer coastline. Old Goa has the Basilica of Bom Jesus and the Se Cathedral, both important churches with long histories. Dress modestly and keep your voice low inside. Then drive to Panaji for a stroll through the Fontainhas neighbourhood, known for its colourful Portuguese-style houses.
In the afternoon head south. Colva and Palolem are the classic South Goa beaches, wider, quieter and better for long walks than the north. If your group wants a temple stop, the Mangueshi and Shantadurga temples in Ponda taluka are widely visited, but check current timings and dress rules before going.
Beaches Compared: North or South
People often ask which side is better. North Goa suits those who want music, shacks, shopping and activity. South Goa suits those who want space, early sunsets and fewer crowds. With three nights you can taste both, which is why this itinerary splits the sightseeing days between the two.
If your group is mostly older adults or families with small children, we can tilt the plan towards the calmer south beaches and shorter outings.
Day 4: Morning Beach Time and Drive Back
Use the last morning for a relaxed breakfast, a final walk on the sand and a little shopping. Cashew nuts, spices and Goan bebinca are popular things to carry home. Check out by late morning and start the return so that you reach Pune at night rather than very late. A day-time start is safer on the Kolhapur-Satara highway.
Choosing the Right Vehicle
A Swift Dzire works for a couple or a family of three or four travelling light. For four to seven people with proper luggage, an Ertiga or Innova Crysta is far more comfortable over nearly 1,000 km total. Friends and larger families can book a Tempo Traveller or a Force Urbania, which have enough room to stretch and sleep on the long road.
Best Time to Go and Practical Tips
October to February is the most popular season, with pleasant weather and a full calendar of beach life, although hotels fill fast around Christmas and New Year. The monsoon is quiet and green, but some beach activities and shacks close and the sea can be rough. Summer is hot and humid.
- Never drink and drive, and do not let anyone in your group do so. Your driver handles all driving
- Carry sunscreen, sunglasses, a cap, light cotton clothes and a spare set for wet outings
- Keep ID cards for every traveller for hotel check-in
- Lock valuables in your hotel and keep an eye on belongings at the beach
Safety, Etiquette and Local Rules
Goa is relaxed, but local laws and common sense still apply. Respect no-entry areas, follow lifeguard instructions and avoid swimming at night. Be polite at churches and temples, and do not photograph people without asking. Toll, parking and state entry taxes are normally charged at actuals unless an all-inclusive package is quoted to you in advance.
Making the Trip Your Own
Every group travels differently. A family with grandparents may prefer a slower pace with a long lunch in Kolhapur, while a group of friends may want to reach the beach before sunset on day one. Cab Service Pune is happy to adjust departure times, halts and the order of sightseeing, so the plan fits your group instead of the other way round. Tell us at the time of booking if you want a quieter stay, a party-side stay or a mix of both.
How to Book Your Goa Trip
Send us your dates, number of travellers, pickup area and whether you prefer North Goa, South Goa or both. We share the fare before the trip, and any hotel, sightseeing or ticket assistance can be coordinated on request. If your group wants an extra night or a shorter outing, we will customise the plan.
